Sage
SAGE (Senior Adults Generating Enrichment) program provides local schools and youth servicing agencies with additional resources to enhance the emotional, social, and intellectual growth of the school-age children they serve.
Volunteers assist youth in a variety of ways:
- they tutor (one-on-one or in small groups) to improve reading, writing and math skills;
- serve as school library aides;
- as guides and demonstrators in museums;
- as nature center educators;
- judges at Science Fairs;
- and/or will teach the fine points of chess and art appreciation.
Other SAGE volunteers critique professional musical school assembly programs; teach about ancient cultures with the aid of artifacts from the University Museum collections; and, as Youth Aid Panelists, help keep first-time juvenile offenders out of the court system.
All of the above opportunities can be tailored to fit volunteers’ time availability.
